How might we use technology to effectively distribute clean and affordable energy to homes & industries across Africa?
Our thinking behind making this a priority
Access to clean modern energy services is an enormous challenge facing Africa because energy is fundamental for socioeconomic development and poverty eradication. Today, 620 million Africans do not have access to electricity. There is no doubt that the present power crisis afflicting much of Africa will persist unless we diversify our energy sources for domestic and commercial, uses and adopt new available technologies to reduce energy wastage and to save cost.
While the government has a role to play in passing the right policy frameworks to encourage investment in the energy sector, innovators are needed to develop and implement value-based businesses addressing the complex challenges with respect to energy availability for all Africans.
